Horticultural Traits

Beside disease resistance and enhanced fruit quality, horticultural traits are also important for increased productivity and high yield. In Georgia, a sweet pepper cultivar with large blocky 4 lobe fruits that have square to slightly elongated shape and extra-large (XL that are around 50 count per box for bell pepper) fruit size is preferred by growers so setting up breeding efforts for these traits is envisioned to breed high yielding cultivars or breeding lines to meet the need of sweet pepper growers in Georgia and Southeast USA.
